Each Stage of Our Process
At Artful Paws Photography we strive to make your pet photography session a fun and memorable experience for everyone! We take the time to get to know you and your animals and to help you every step of the way. At the end, you will have finished artwork that is ready to be displayed and cherished for years to come.
The process starts with a pre-session consultation. This is the time when we will plan your portrait session and discuss your visions for your finished products. It’s best to do this in person so that your animal gets an introduction to the studio environment. We make sure to have fun and give them lots of treats so when they come back for the actual session, they are comfortable in the studio. If time or health constraints prevent an in person consultation, it can be done by phone.
The next step is your portrait session. Because every animal is unique, every session is different. During your session we will take a number of different poses. We aim to capture your pet’s personality with a variety of expressions. For families, we will generally take a variety of groupings including some of the whole family, some of just your pet and any other specific groupings you would like. A typical session lasts about an hour, but with multiple animals or those who need more breaks, some sessions can run two or more hours. We do not set any time limits, as we do not want you or your animals to feel rushed. Great portraits happen when everyone is having fun!
Typically about a week after your portrait session, you will return for your ordering session. During this time you will see partially edited proofs and we will help you to choose the best products to display your favorite images. Our unique software allows you to see what your portraits will look like on your own walls, ensuring that we are choosing the right sizes for the space. Your chosen images will be edited and retouched by hand. Depending on the products selected and the time of year, your finished artwork will be ready for pick up in approximately three to four weeks.
