Well it’s kitten season again at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter! It seems this time of year always brings lots of furry little bundles to the shelter. Call me crazy, but I love to take a week and photograph as many kittens as I can. You can never see too many cute kitten pictures, right?
Yesterday I had a litter of five kittens who were born at their foster mom’s home. We decided to leave Mama at home as she can be a bit nervous in new situations and we did not want her to make the kittens nervous. These little ones are just five weeks old and will be available for adoption in a few more weeks.
Today it was a a group of three kittens who are seven weeks old. Foster mom Jessica said they came from a larger litter but were now old enough to be separated from their mom. They will be available for adoption early next week. Even though they had just come from the vet, they were quite cooperative. While they did not seem that much bigger than the 5 week olds, it’s amazing that just two weeks make such a difference in how much they engage. They were much less cautious and much more curious!
