Milo’s Shopping for a New Home!

Milo wasn’t really into shopping on Black Friday. He much preferred to come to my studio for some new portraits in hopes that maybe they would help find him a home before Christmas.

You see, Milo has been at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter for way too long! He is a super sweet, super chill boy who has become a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter.  But much as Milo loves going to meetings, he would really rather find a nice home with a bed and a family to call his own. He is a happy boy who loves meeting people and going for walks. He loves stuffed toys and often likes to carry one with him when he goes for a walk.

tan-dog-brown-studio-backgroundMilo is going to need an extra, extra, EXTRA special adopter, because he’s been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a term that refers to the heart’s inability to pump adequate blood to the body, and can be managed on medication. Milo is on three medications (Vetmedin, Furosemide, and Enalapril) and his symptoms have improved, which is great! Milo will need to be on this medication for the rest of his life, and the shelter is so committed to getting this good boy the best home that the ever-generous Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter is going to pay for those medications for the rest of Milo’s life. They don’t want Milo’s adopter to be burdened with the financial cost of the medications.  They just want them to love Milo for however long he’s part of their family. That could be a few months, it could be a couple years, we just don’t know.

Milo also really isn’t a fan of other dogs, so he needs to be the only dog in the home. He doesn’t like other dogs, and it can’t be risked that he might get riled up, due to his heart condition.

What we do know is that Milo is the sweetest, chillest dog around. Due to his heart condition, he needs to avoid being too physically active. Which basically fits right into Milo’s plans! He would love nothing more than to be with someone who can spend lots of time with him (he loves going to work with his person, even), and keep him nice and comfortable by providing him blankets and beds to sleep in, and just someone he can hang out with. Do you have room in your home and in your heart for Milo?
