Meet Diego – Rescue Pet of the Week
Diego was originally surrendered to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter when his family’s residence stopped allowing animals. He was surrendered along with another dog that was quickly adopted, but Diego has had trouble finding the right fit.
Diego is very smart and knows sit, stay, down, heel, high five, and nite-nite (his command to get in bed). His prior owner also said that he enjoys baths, playing at the dog park, and following his people around the house to keep them company. This goofy adorable boy with one Groucho Marx eyebrow has quickly become a favorite among the shelter staff and volunteers.
Diego was so much fun to have in the studio. He was curious and well behaved and gave some great head tilts. He even helped me out in testing the background for my upcoming Holiday Photo Event to benefit the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.
This sweet boy just can’t catch a break! Diego was adopted several times but was returned because of behavioral issues. Diego needs some work with learning not to guard his food and toys. During the recent “Clear the Shelters” event, he was ready to go home with two different families, but the adoptions fell through because of breed restrictions at the apartment buildings of the potential adopters.
Diego needs a home with a dog savvy person who is able to help him learn to share his stuff. It would be best if there were no young children. In return, this boy would be a fun-loving friend who is sure to keep you entertained with his quirky ways!
Diego is currently available for adoption at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. For more information on animals currently available for adoption from the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, visit the shelter’s page on Petango.
