Pit Bulls and their People: A Family Portrait Session
Ana is a vet at the Metropolitan Emergency Animal Clinic and we met when she visited my booth at the Super Pet Expo in Chantilly last year. Like many of my clients, to her and her husband Stephen, their dogs are their babies, so she was interested in a family portrait, but she was concerned that her two young Pit Bulls would be difficult to handle. I assured her that a had a few tricks up my sleeve, so we went forward with booking a session.
In the studio, I quickly discovered that the two dogs have very different personalities. Cortana, the fawn colored one, is super mellow, to the point that she sometimes looks sad even when she is not. She is definitely a daddy’s girl. Master Chief is completely the opposite. He is super high energy and always has a smile on his face! He is much more a mama’s boy. The contrasting personalities presented a unique challenge in that I had to work hard to get Cortana to perk up and look happy without getting Master Chief too worked up. He did not want to sit still for long, but in the end, we managed to get some great shots.
Ana even left a wonderful testimonial: “We met Annie at Pet Expo and were impressed with her work, so we booked a session at her studio with our two pit bulls. They are young and crazy dogs, and it was almost impossible to keep them still. Annie managed to capture amazing photos of both of our dogs and us. I love them more than my wedding photos!”
