When Georgia came in as a stray to a high kill rural Georgia shelter, she was in very rough shape. She was skin and bones, and had to be shaved down due to mats, and they said she had maggots living in her wounds.
When she finally got to VA, her eyes were sunken in their sockets, and filled with puss. With the loving care of her current foster mom, Georgia has shown great improvement! A visit to Pender Veterinary Hospital diagnosed her with Lupus, but its a skin version which is totally manageable and wont affect her life span. She is currently on prednisone 10mg once a day, and will be weaned down slowly to the lowest dose to control the lupus. Because sunlight aggravates lupus, she should avoid extended time outdoors. she will “go potty” and come right back in.
Georgia is about 9 years old and currently weighs about 30 pounds, though she could stand to gain a few more. Her foster mom thinks she must have had a good home at one time in her life because she is spayed, crate trained and walks well on a leash. The vet thinks she had a dental treatment at some time. Her foster mom says she is a good little dog who just needs s little extra TLC to heal. Do you have room in your heart and your home for this sweet ball of fluff?
